Ethereum targets 8-second transaction finality by 2030

Ethereum’s post-Hegotá roadmap shifts the network away from having every node repeat the same computation. The planned 2027 Hegotá fork could be its last conventional upgrade, after which Ethereum would lean harder on cryptographic proofs, formal verification, privacy-focused mempools, and quantum-resistant cryptography.

The proposed model uses lean consensus, recursive STARKs, better state management, and off-chain computation to verify work instead of replicating it across the network. The roadmap targets transaction finality as low as 8 seconds by 2030, versus roughly 200 seconds in 2015.
