OpenAI Codex picker leak shows GPT-5.5 and internal model IDs
Picker leak
Pro users briefly saw OpenAI's internal model IDs inside the Codex picker, including GPT-5.5, "Spud," oai-2.1, arcanine, and multiple glacier-alpha variants, before the list disappeared minutes later. Screenshots show at least six entries, turning a UI slip into a very concrete signal that new models are being wired directly into Codex-facing surfaces.
At the same time, developers flagged that the /backend-api/codex/responses endpoint used by tools like Pi and Opencode is now officially supported. That lines up the leak with actual plumbing: new model names visible on the front end while Codex access paths get formalized for Pro accounts and external tooling.
