Lilly’s eloralintide-Zepbound combo drove more weight loss, but side effects ended treatment for up to 27%

The added weight loss came with a tolerability problem: Lilly’s eloralintide-Zepbound combination produced 23.3% average weight loss at 48 weeks, versus 14.8% for Zepbound alone in adults with obesity and Type 2 diabetes. The combo also improved blood sugar, but side effects led 11% to 27% of participants to stop treatment.

That leaves Lilly trying to carry the stronger result into a larger trial without losing patients along the way. Lilly said it plans to start Phase 3 studies of the co-formulated therapy by the end of 2026.
