Claude model and tool calls now appear in the same OpenTelemetry traces

Claude applications can now put model and tool-call activity inside the same traces developers use to debug the rest of their services. That means a slow request or failed tool use no longer has to be investigated as a separate black box from the application code that triggered it.

The public beta exports native OpenTelemetry traces from the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents, and Claude SDKs. The spans follow gen_ai conventions and include duration, status, and token counts, with support for stacks such as Grafana Cloud, New Relic, and Datadog.
