Grok API now clones custom voices from short recordings
Grok’s voice stack just jumped from generic TTS into “use your own voice” territory. The API console in the U.S. now lets developers clone a custom voice from a short recording or pick from a built-in library, instead of being stuck with preset voices.
That’s a big shift from the April launch, which shipped with 5 expressive TTS voices. The console now lists 89 built-in options plus cloning, turning it into a branded agent tool for assistants and customer service flows already running across Tesla, Starlink, and SpaceX support.
