Meta’s Claude Code users fell 50% despite $105 million in spending
Microsoft and Meta are pulling employees back from Anthropic’s Claude as internal AI costs rise. Microsoft cut its Claude spending by more than one-third, while Meta pushed staff toward Copilot, MetaCode and Muse Code instead of relying as heavily on Claude Code.
The cuts are not a clean exit from Claude. Meta still spent more than $105 million on Claude Code over a recent 28-day period, even as its user base fell from about 60,000 to 30,000, according to reporting cited by The Information. MetaCode had more than 30,000 users and Muse Code more than 6,000.
