NEAR proposal would cut annual token issuance by 36%

NEAR stakeholders proposed cutting the network’s annual issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6% over two years, a 36% reduction. The proposal also leaves open an eventual move to fixed supply, while NEAR continues using fee revenue for buybacks and burns. This targets monetary policy rather than a one-time token burn.

The proposal still has to move through a forum post, committee review, an onchain vote by veNEAR holders, and a security council veto window. SVRN CEO Sal Ternullo raised it in the House of Stake, where SVRN holds and stakes about 55 million NEAR, roughly 4% of circulating supply.
