Trump floats government stakes in OpenAI and Anthropic

The U.S. government could become a shareholder in OpenAI, Anthropic and other frontier AI labs, not their owner through full nationalization. Trump pointed to Washington’s 10% Intel stake as the model, saying it had generated about $60 billion. OpenAI reportedly discussed a 5% stake for Washington in July, while Anthropic and the administration denied discussing an ownership deal.
