BioAge drug restores aged mice’s activity to younger levels
A daily oral drug restored activity in aged mice to levels seen in younger animals, while also cutting the time they spent inactive. The treatment was a brain-penetrant BGE-102 analog that blocks NLRP3, an inflammatory pathway linked to age-related decline.
BioAge presented the preclinical results at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Mechanisms of Aging meeting. BGE-102 is already in Phase 2 trials for cardiovascular risk and diabetic macular edema; in the mouse study, activity measures matched or exceeded younger-animal levels.
