U.S. government documents are set to replace “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” with “Super Intelligence” and “SI.” Donald Trump announced the change during his UN address, arguing that “artificial” makes the technology sound fake even as he described it as powerful and requiring caution.

The rename came alongside opposition to international control of AI, framing the terminology around a wider U.S. contest with China and other countries. The official switch is from AI to SI.
