Novo Nordisk licenses Hengrui’s potential once-weekly obesity pill
Novo Nordisk is adding a potential once-weekly pill to its obesity and type 2 diabetes pipeline, targeting the biggest convenience gap in the current GLP-1 market. Most existing options rely on injections or daily dosing, so a weekly oral treatment would change the tradeoff for patients who want fewer doses without moving to an injectable.
The candidate comes through an exclusive license agreement with Hengrui Pharma. It remains a treatment in development, but the deal puts less frequent oral dosing directly into the competition over weight loss, convenience, and long-term treatment options.
