Hamas scheme moved more than $2 million through sham charities and crypto

Hamas financing crossed sham charities, crypto wallets, and multiple jurisdictions instead of relying on one conventional transfer. Treasury designated a Hamas military-wing member in Gaza, two France-based individuals, and two affiliated entities over a multi-year scheme that moved more than $2 million.

The Justice Department also announced coordinated arrests and charges tied to a U.S.-based fundraising network that solicited humanitarian donations and funneled them to Hamas. Investigators said at least $1.5 million was raised after October 7, 2023, across the United States, France, and Gaza.
