AWS said Claude 3 Sonnet dies Oct 31 but it stayed online
An AWS retirement notice said Claude 3 Sonnet would be permanently unavailable on Oct 31, 2025, but it was still callable that day and kept working afterward. Repligate says they were actively using it during a staged “burial” event in San Francisco that same day, and that access never actually cut off.
The bigger pattern they point to is Bedrock deprecations not lining up with real availability. Their groups haven’t seen a clean, permanent loss of an Anthropic model since Claude Instant 1.2, and even after Sonnet 3.5 and 3.6 were removed on April 1, they had previously found older models still reachable in certain AWS regions.
