Claude Sonnet 5.5 claims 30% faster speeds at up to 30% less cost

Claude Sonnet 5.5 is now available across Anthropic’s platforms, positioning a smaller model for more demanding coding work. It is the second model in the Claude 5.5 family, with Haiku 5.5 scheduled to follow in the coming weeks.

Anthropic says Sonnet 5.5 runs more than 30% faster than Sonnet 5 and costs up to 30% less for most work, including coding, documentation, and slide creation. An early test gave Sonnet 5.5 Max a 55.5 score on a repository containing 105 bugs, above several larger or competing models. Higher-effort modes use substantially more turns for deeper debugging.
