Tampered Ledger wallets allegedly drained more than $86 million

More than $86 million was drained from hundreds of Ledger wallets across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tron, and the suspected failure sits outside the wallet software itself. The reported theft involved devices sold through reseller CryptoBilis, shifting attention to the physical distribution chain.

Reports described implanted eSIM, LTE, and CPU components designed to capture recovery words displayed on tampered devices. Onchain investigator SpecterAnalyst traced funds from victim wallets to theft addresses. Ledger is still investigating where the devices were altered and has not confirmed a company-wide exploit or individual reseller supply chains.

Kimchi token crashes more than 95% after reaching $14 million market cap

The Kimchi token went from roughly $14 million in market capitalization to a collapse of more than 95% within minutes. The promotion was deleted, Pump.fun founder Alon removed his repost, and Kimchi later removed Pump.fun from his bio.

Lookonchain reported that wallets linked to the alleged scheme accumulated tokens cheaply and sold them for more than $385,000 in profit. Insentos said Kimchi’s account was SIM-swapped and that Kimchi did not launch the token, leaving the wallet activity and promotion under dispute.

OCC leaves stablecoin rewards open to case-by-case review

Stablecoin issuers now have a federal operating framework, but the rewards fight is still open. The OCC finalized standards for payment-stablecoin reserves, redemptions, and risk management, while dropping language that presumed some third-party reward arrangements unlawful.

That leaves those programs to case-by-case review instead of an automatic ban. Issuers still cannot pay interest directly, and anti-money-laundering and sanctions rules were pushed to the Treasury Department. The rule takes effect January 18, 2027.

Netanyahu orders blockchain backup plan to bypass potential sanctions on Israel

Israel is preparing a blockchain-based financial backup before any sanctions are imposed. Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered plans for an alternative system using blockchain and cryptocurrency to bypass possible banking and financial restrictions, and urged Israel to prepare for a possible end to U.S. military aid.

The timing is notable: Netanyahu made the remarks days before Israel’s October 27 election. The Jewish People Policy Institute says 64 countries have taken or considered economic, financial, or diplomatic measures against Israel.

Strategy spent nearly 9x more on STRC buybacks than bitcoin

Strategy put far more money into buying back STRC preferred securities than into its latest bitcoin purchase. The company repurchased $193 million of STRC and acquired 267 bitcoin worth about $22.1 million, keeping both sides of its treasury strategy active.

The bigger change is where the balance is moving. Strategy increased its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program from $2 billion to $3 billion, creating more room to retire the securities tied to its capital structure while it continues adding bitcoin. As of October 18, Strategy held 848,517 BTC and $5.3 billion in USD assets.

Ethereum nodes can sync in under half a day using under 0.5 TB

Ethereum finalized the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Sepolia testnet on October 6, moving ePBS, block-level access lists and gas-pricing changes closer to mainnet. The access lists work like state diffs, replacing the traditional sync-healing phase so nodes can synchronize faster and with less complexity. Aggressive settings already let an Ethereum node sync within half a day using under 0.5 TB of disk space.

That progress did not clear the path to mainnet. Ethereum core developers delayed the Glamsterdam fork on Hoodi on October 22 while client teams investigated issues, and the Ethereum Foundation said on October 23 that a new date would be announced.

Strive passes MARA to become the fourth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder

Treasury jump

Strive added 2,822 Bitcoin for $235 million, bringing its holdings to 35,595 BTC and pushing it past MARA Holdings as the fourth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder. The ranking changed because the purchase landed alongside a rapid conversion of financing into crypto assets.

Strive funded the move by exercising 13.7 million of its 15.3 million remaining warrants, generating $369 million in gross proceeds. That brings the company to 94% of its traditional warrants exercised, leaving the capital-markets pipeline heavily committed to expanding its Bitcoin treasury.

GRVT permanently burns 1.1 million tokens in first buyback

GRVT removed 1.1 million tokens from circulation in its first buyback, giving the rollout a visible onchain adoption signal without overstating the economics. The tokens were bought on the open market and permanently burned instead of being held in treasury, equal to approximately 0.96% of circulating supply at the time.

A public dashboard tracks the purchases, supply figures, cumulative burns, and transaction hashes. GRVT plans additional monthly buybacks under its GRVT 2.0 rollout, but those purchases remain at the token issuer’s discretion.

JPMorgan projects Bitcoin at 10% annual returns, above stocks and gold

Bitcoin now has a formal long-term return estimate in JPMorgan Asset Management’s capital-market assumptions: roughly 10% a year over 10-15 years. That puts it above the firm’s forecasts for U.S. large-cap stocks at 7.5%, gold at 5.5%, bonds at 5.6%, and REITs at 8.2%.

The caveat is that JPMorgan still treats Bitcoin as speculative rather than a standard portfolio building block. It has not included Bitcoin in its main covariance matrices, even with the new 10% projection.
