DeepSeek and Huawei open-source six tools to make Ascend chips viable

DeepSeek and Huawei are targeting the software bottleneck that makes Nvidia chips hard to replace. The two companies announced six open-source tools for Huawei’s Ascend platform, including TileLang, a high-level compiler, plus compute and distributed communication libraries. DeepSeek already uses Nvidia for large-scale pretraining and Ascend for post-training and inference. According to the announcement, TileLang powers most operators used to train DeepSeek’s V4 models.
